Snelvertaler.nl, which started as a living room company in 2001 and successfully expanded to a place in the top 10 European translation agencies, opens a new head office in Amsterdam. From this new renovated building in the golden corner of the Herengracht, the translation agency first serves the Norwegian, Finnish, Danish, Swedish, English and Irish translation markets. From mid January 2012, the French, Portuguese, Italian and Spanish team will also be accommodated at this location.
Amsterdam was chosen because this city attracts many nationalities. The pool of potential project managers is large enough to meet the strong demand of the Scandinavian markets in particular. Also for the markets where Fasttranslator has not been active for such a long time, such as the French and Portuguese, there is enough staff to be found. Amsterdam has an enormous attraction for graduate young people who often stay in our capital after finding a job. For translation project managers, it is possible to continue working in their own language and the broad contact with translators worldwide adds an extra dimension to the work, such as anyone who likes to come into contact with new cultures and languages.
The difference with traditional translation agencies is that Snelvertaler.nl works with a worldwide pool of more than 6, 000 translators for almost all languages and disciplines. The translation itself does not happen in Amsterdam, but on locations worldwide. A translation is usually performed in the country of the target language. The scalability of this concept and the knowledge of the local market and current linguistic knowledge among the translators yield a better than average translation. Thanks to the clever use of translators in different time zones, the translation agency can also work at lightning speed.
Growth and quality
The global translation market is one of the fastest growing. Due to the increase in international trade, the increase in regulations and the desire of many companies to offer multilingual communication to customers, the demand for translations is growing annually with double digits. Part of it is taken care of by automated translation systems. In 2011, the translation agency warned all its connected translators not to use free computer translation services during translations. The technique of so-called hybrid translation, in which computer translations are checked by professional human translators, is not yet suitable for professional use. The more than 230, 000 words translated by Fasttranslator to the 115 target languages every day are therefore just manual work.
