At the beginning of this week, the American branch of the IAB announced the six new formats. It concerns the so-called Rising Star Ad Units, because they are the result of a competition that was held under the name Rising Star.

In September, IAB called the market to come up with proposals for new types of advertising. The jury received 36 submissions, the selection of which was eventually adopted as standards. Among the winning formats are ideas from Google / Youtube, Microsoft and AOL.

Eleven of the now eighteen official formats are being retired. They are barely used.
