Things are going well with start-up Fairzekering , which aims to make Dutch roads safer. Fair fidelity provides drivers with insight into driving behavior via the Chipin plug . If you drive safely, you fall under the cashback scheme. The concept has been developed further abroad, but that did not stop the gentlemen of Fairzekering from bringing the service onto the Dutch market. "Our technology is comparable to that of foreign concepts, but Fair Fuse is more customer-oriented, " says Marcel Koster.
Marcel Koster, Raymond van Es, Andreas van Rooijen and Hans Gerritsen are behind Fairzekering. The four have a background in the insurance industry. Andreas and Marcel talk about the concept and the entrepreneurship.
How do you find out what kind of a driver someone is?
Marcel: "When the Chipin plug is installed, the driving behavior is analyzed with our algorithms. A score emerges from this. The smoother you drive, the safer you are in traffic. We want to encourage everyone to become a safe and green driver, instead of an orange or red one. "
What exactly does green driving mean and what about the cashback regulation?
Andreas: "If you drive green, you will be rewarded with a premium refund of up to 35 percent. By a green driver we mean a driver who drives safely. Environmental friendliness, saving fuel, is also a pleasant extra. As a green driver you can drive too fast, brake too hard or accelerate too much - everyone does that sometimes. We emphasize that this is tolerated when you prevent an accident. We encourage the orange riders to turn green, for example by offering a low-cost driving skills course. "
How scalable is Fair Fuse?
Andreas: "Fair insurance can handle all cars in Europe. Our data is stored at Amazon and they would also respond positively to scale-up. European countries that have already shown interest are Belgium, Germany and Italy. "
Can you cancel Fair Insurance?
Marcel: "Yes. If you are dissatisfied, you can return the Chipin plug and take out another insurance policy. This, however, is rare because Fairzekering gives car drivers insight into driving behavior. Many are enthusiastic about this awareness. "
During the Accenture Innovation Awards you received a Blue Tulip in the Financial Services category . What does this price mean for you?
Marcel: "Participation in the Innovation Awards has given us pleasure, the award means a piece of recognition and recognition. Of the more than one hundred and fifty registered concepts in our category, we have won nicely. "
Andreas: "We see a Blue Tulip as a kind of quality mark. And we notice that the market thinks so too. You are taken seriously by a large group of experts, which is contagious. "
What was the biggest challenge so far?
Andreas: "The biggest challenge lies with the business vehicle fleet, because our product is the most interesting. It turns out to be difficult to get in with fleet managers. For them it is good to know that Fairzekering offers complete fleet management reports, which visualize everything that a fleet manager wants to know. "
Marcel, what does entrepreneurship mean for you?
Marcel: "Flexibility. Are not bound by rules of stakeholders, certain departments, and so on. If we consider something necessary, then we act accordingly. "
