The Dutch Media Authority has imposed a hefty fine on an unnamed commercial media service. The porn site had failed to hide videos with seriously harmful images for minors.

The Media Authority has declared the objection of the commercial media service to be virtually unfounded in virtually all areas. However, the fine in relation to the financial position of the company has been reduced from 120, 000 euros to 75, 000 euros.

Protection of minors is an important spearhead of the Commissariaat. That is why, since 2013, research has been conducted into potentially seriously harmful content in various commercial media services operating from the Netherlands.

The Commissariaat has submitted the relevant videos to the External Advisory Committee on Serious Damage of the Commissariaat, which has classified the content as seriously harmful to minors.
