Amsterdam, 28 September 2017 - The revolution for the festival goer in the Netherlands started earlier this year: cashless payment during the Amsterdam Wine Festival (AWF). Fast payment, just with your bank card at the bar and without the hassle of too little or afterwards too many coins. The coming edition this weekend can also be paid contactless again. But it does not stop there: If it is up to Mastercard, more and more festivals offer the same ease of payment. In Europe it is already happening, so you can pay contactless at large festivals like Glastonbury and Sziget. The switch from cash systems to pin solutions has been going on for some time among festival organizers. The Netherlands is leading the way in contactless payments and it is therefore a matter of time before other Dutch festivals follow the cashless example of AWF and earlier this year Best Kept Secret. The Amsterdam Wine Festival takes place in the Westergasfabriek. A convenient payment system ensures a fast and efficient handling of transactions. Sebastiaan van Erne is once again enthusiastic about the cooperation with Mastercard: "After the success of the previous edition, we are very happy that we can also avoid long queues this time." All products and different prizes can be put in an app, allowing the bar staff to enter the order at lightning speed. Payments are handled 25% faster through the contactless systems. Mastercard Nederland is pleased with the cashless system with your bank card at the Amsterdam Wine Festival. "Our goal is to have our cardholders pay with their card or mobile quickly and easily everywhere." Arjan Bol, Country Manager Mastercard Netherlands, explains. "Contactless payment takes an absolute flight in the Netherlands. We pin more and more everywhere. We therefore expect that contactless payments will also be made quickly at festivals. The AWF has set a good standard in this. "The Amsterdam Wine Festival takes place from 29 September to 1 October in the Westergasfabriek. For three days visitors can immerse themselves in the harvest festivals of the Northern Hemisphere. Admission is € 12, - including a wine glass.
