Online sales of Sanoma in the Netherlands and Belgium grew by 1.1 percent in the third quarter to 71.4 million euros. The Dutch market as a whole was estimated to grow around eight percent. Sanoma is growing slower than the market.

This is evident from the quarterly figures published by the Finnish media concern this morning (PDF).

The Dutch print, online and television activities account for a turnover of 179.6 million euros, or 41 percent of Sanoma's total. Belgium accounts for 11.4 percent, or 49.9 million euros.

Based on this ratio, Sanoma's online turnover in the Netherlands is around 56 million euros. However, the quarterly report does not specifically mention that.

The Dutch result under the bar increased by seven million euros to 24 million. The profit for the whole group (ebit) increased by 25 percent to 77.7 million. This increase is largely due to the Finnish results, as is turnover growth.

At group level, turnover decreased by 4.4 percent to 438 million euros. When special factors are excluded, there is a decrease of 1.5 percent, of which 1.2 percent in the Netherlands.

Furthermore, it appears from the quarterly report that Sanoma has not increased its stake in Social 1nfluencer BV since November 2015. In February it bought 51 percent of the Amsterdam MCN, in November another twenty percent.
