Zeist, October 31, 2011 - Three-quarters of seniors are satisfied with their health insurer, and yet 55% indicate they are considering switching to this year. Goedenwel.nl comes to this conclusion after a survey of 892 members of its 55plus community. The basic premium (25%) and coverage (23%) are the main reasons for switching. Transparency also appears to score remarkably high: 12% say they want to switch to an insurer that offers more insight.
"The senior citizen of today is very aware of the different possibilities. We see that this target group is well informed and companies also pay attention to clarity and transparency. In order to meet the need for freedom of choice, we have decided to let members determine their care offer themselves this year, "says Dana Mons, formula manager Goedenwel.nl. A health insurer has let the community determine in co-creation which supplementary insurance is most relevant to them. They receive the highest discount on this supplementary insurance. "A modern approach that fits the modern senior, witness the results: in a week's time nearly 900 members participated in the co-creation, " says Dana Mons.
People over 55 already find their way online by now, according to this study. 82% prefer not to use mail or telephone for communication with her health insurer, but search and find necessary information online. Declaring, changing data and asking questions are preferably made via the internet.
A good example is Achmea's initiative and stems from the ambition to meet the 55plus target group in a new phase of life. This third phase of life, which according to many starts around the age of 55, brings with it a lot of questions. How long do I want to work, how is my pension arranged, how do I stay healthy, but also: What dream do I want to realize? Goedwelwel plays on all these questions and gives members the opportunity to get in touch with each other. In addition to the community, vacancies for seniors can be consulted and questions can be asked to a panel of experts. The community has 42, 500 members. The use of Goedenwel is free and accessible to all over-55s in the Netherlands. See also www.facebook.com/goedenwel or www.twitter.com/#/goedenwel.
