The Japanese e-commerce company Rakuten puts no less than 100 million dollars into Pinterest's social site Pinterest.

The most important consideration is the strong growth of the site in Japan, according to CEO Hiroshi Mikitani in an interview with website TechCrunch.

Rakuten even uses the site, including for the provision of travel. Three-quarters of Japanese Internet users have a Rakuten ID, similar to Apple ID.

The 100 million dollars is not exclusively from Rakuten. Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners and FirstMark Capital have also added.

Rakuten previously invested in Western Internet companies, including Buy.com and PriceMinister in France.
