Amsterdam, 31 January 2018 - The use of the Handy, a smartphone offered by the hotel to use during the stay, is used by more than a quarter of the guests, according to the first analysis at Novotel Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Every day between 200 and 260 new users register with the smartphones, of which not one has yet disappeared. The phones are mainly used by English (65.7%) guests to obtain information about the area, but also about the hotel and its additional services, according to a survey of the most visited pages within the smartphone.
Information about the environment and hotel the most popular
The hotel was the first in the Netherlands to start offering the free Handy's. The guests are especially eager to use the possibilities the device has to offer during the weekend. In addition to free internet access and calling, there is a great need for information about the area and the hotel itself.
The maps (22%), browser (20%) and city guide (11%) are among the most popular functions in the sidebar category. But the additional services of the hotel are easily accessible from the home screen with the smartphone. Room service (39%), gourmet bar (15%) and hotel of at / m (10%) are the most visited pages in this category. There are also integrated articles on the telephones. The canals of Amsterdam and information about the bulb season score highest. Floris Licht, General Manager at Novotel Amsterdam Schiphol Airport: "The Handy makes information gathering a lot easier for our guests. We see that they contribute in an accessible way to a more complete experience of their stay. By just taking that extra step every time, we continue to develop and enrich the experience of our guests. "
Not one device has disappeared yet
The chances for the hotels themselves are mainly in the proactive promotion of the Handy, partly by sending promos via push messages to stimulate the use. The fear of theft of the telephones appears unfounded; in the first months after the introduction, not one device has yet disappeared.
Handy is the first mobile operating system that is aimed at the hospitality industry. Tailored to the needs of both travelers and hoteliers with the aim of providing a system that provides hotels with higher revenues and provides guests with seamless connectivity and content. The head office of Handy is located in Hong Kong, where 80% of the hotel rooms now have a Handy. That percentage also applies to Singapore. Worldwide, more than one million rooms have been equipped with a Handy.
