The World Travel Market Global Trends Report 2014 shows that travelers seek authentic and local experiences and contact with locals. Moreover, they want to travel as sustainably as possible, so that the population also benefits from tourism. Better Places responds to these trends. This organization has a network of local travel experts, who can compose a tailor-made trip together with the traveler, tailored to his personal wishes. The travel experts know the most beautiful places, the best accommodation and arrange special activities, such as homestays, cycling trips and cooking workshops. This way travelers get to know very closely about daily life at a destination.

Offer with 24 destinations

Better Places started with travel to Indonesia, Mongolia, Thailand, Vietnam and Bhutan. The pilot proved to be a success and the organization is now expanding its offer. Last month, four destinations were added and before the end of the year the supply grew with seven other countries. That brings the total number of destinations to 24, spread over four continents.

Social travel

Co-founder Saskia Griep: "Better Places strongly believes in social travel : enabling your network to create a special travel experience. This network consists of friends, acquaintances and travel bloggers, but also from the local residents of your travel destination. Because who knows a destination better than a resident of that country? On our site you can find plenty of information, but the design of the trip makes traveler and local expert together, in a personal way. Important, because we want the travel experts to inspire our travelers with their passion for their country. This experience can not be transferred via digital contact. Research shows that 73% of people want personal contact with an organization, in addition to a good digital platform. We like to play on that wish. "
