DPD Parcel Service reduces the time span of its consumer service Predict for deliveries within the Netherlands from three to just one hour. DPD started an advertising campaign this week to make online retailers aware of the services of the package carrier.

DPD makes the short period possible by calculating an optimized route for the drivers every morning. The recipient will be notified on the delivery day when the package will be delivered within one hour. If this is not possible, the recipient can schedule a new delivery day.

Predict's one-hour service is currently being offered to recipients in the delivery regions of Amsterdam, Midden-Nederland, Rotterdam and soon in Limburg and North Brabant. Before the end of 2014 DPD offers the service fully opaque.

The package carrier also works on the possibility of having the package forwarded to a DPD ParcelShop. The goal is to finally introduce 'Follow my parcel'. This not only communicates a period of one hour to the receiver. The driver can be followed up to fifteen minutes before delivery in real time and adjustments can be made to the delivery.

DPD previously set up an international ParcelShop network of thirteen hundred shops in the Benelux. Here both packages can be picked up and returned. Recently, the Benelux network has been integrated with five thousand points in Germany and soon France will join.
